Mumbai becomes first city to administer 1 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses

Around 507 sites are available to provide doses of Covid-19 vaccine in the city. Out of which, 325 are government-run vaccination centres and 182 private hospitals.


Maharashtra has witnessed maximum Covid-19 cases in the country. The state's overall tally was out of control during the second wave peak. It witnessed "deteriorating conditions" as there was lack of oxygen supply and crisis in medical resources and other health care equipment. 

Whereas vaccination drive had started across the country to administer vaccine doses to all. Now, Mumbai has become the first city to administer 1 crore Covid-19 vaccines so far.

As per CoWIN data, Mumbai administered vaccine doses to 1,00,63,497 people of which 72,75,134 have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine. Whereas 27,88,363 received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. Talking about the vaccination drive in the city, around 507 sites are available to provide Covid-19 vaccine doses, of which 325 are government-run vaccination centres and 182 are private hospitals.

Meanwhile, on Friday the city reported 422 new Covid-19 cases which took the overall tally to 7,45,434 and the death rate jumped to 15,987.
