Mylab to make 1 crore ‘Coviself' test kit before June 1

Mylab Discovery Solutions in Pune on Friday said it was preparing a single Covid-19 self-help kit before being released nationally on June 1. Yesterday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) approved the immediate home-based antigen screening tool Mylab Discovery. The Pune company's Covid test kit christened 'COVISELF', called the first home automation test kit that will deliver results in 15 minutes and will cost ? 250.

"We are building 10 lakh units a day at our facility in Lonavala. In the next 10 days, we will have 1 crore unit and launch it nationally on June 1. The aim is to set boundaries and ensure product availability," said Shrikant Patole, founder and director. on Friday.

According to Patole, the unavailability of a product in medical stores can lead to anxiety among people, therefore, it is important to prepare well before launch by determining the limit you should have before hitting the market. The company has enough equipment and the right to produce 10 lakh kits a day, he said, adding that in the next two weeks, it will be up to 15 lakh a day. Patole said the company is committed to its distributors to ensure that the product is available nationwide from June 1 onwards, as the spread of the virus in the central country makes deep penetration necessary.

Authorizing the Mylab home screening kit, ICMR said only nasal swabs would be needed for this rapid antigen test. All people who tested positive for the RAT kit can be considered as positives indeed and need regular testing, the ICMR said in counselling. It said the mobile home testing app is available in Google Play Store and Apple Store and should be downloaded by all users. The mobile app is a comprehensive guide to the testing process and will provide a positive or negative test result to the patient.
