Nagpur:Serial burglar who saved a portion of loot for bail arrested

Sanjog Holey trapped and arrested by the Tehsil Police team from a community toilet

A 21-year-old thief, Sanjog Holey who has more than two dozen offences registered against him including murder, made sure that he did not spend the entire stolen loot. He saved some parts of it to bear the legal expenses to secure bail, if and he gets caught. On October 29 this year, Sanjog Holey’s arrest has been a tricky case even as a juvenile delinquent said the police. After attaining adulthood, he became even more troublesome for the police, source revealed.

Early in the morning, Sanjog Holey was trapped from a community toilet after a lot of continuous and extended effort by Tehsil police team. Other than the murder under Lakadgaj police station jurisdiction a few years back, Holey had also been involved in repeated offences of burglaries, vehicle thefts and more.

Holey was sheltered by a gang leader, Satish Gaur, after he lost his father at an early age said the police. Allegedly Satish Gaur had groomed Holey as a criminal and is suspected to be taking a substantial share of his stolen ill-gotten gains. In return, Gaur made sure that Holey was bailed out after his arrests by arranging lawyers, paying for bond surety and bearing other legal expenses.

Senior inspector Jayesh Bhandarkar of Tehsil police station said Holey had managed to escape during an action when rest of the gang members were arrested for preparing to commit dacoity near Pahelwan Baba dargah. He said, “We have detected around eight offences, including four vehicle thefts, and rest of burglaries, thefts. He had also walked away with a bag of cash and other valuables from a doctor’s clinic.” He further added that he and his team has nabbed Holey and recovered four stolen vehicles and some valuables from him after custodial interrogation.
