Naveen Patnaik Launches "One Nation-One Ration Card" Scheme In Odisha

Mr. Patnaik also launched another scheme under the public distribution system (PDS) which required the distribution of fortified rice as a pilot project in the Malkangiri District.


Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday announced 'One Nation-One Ration Card' (ONORC) program under the National Food Security Act beneficiaries from other States can have an allowance in Odisha by 10,578 affordable shops.

On the occasion, Mr. Patnaik spoke, on how the state government is doing maximum efforts with the help of the scheme and is willing to continue to work for poor people. Moreover, Mr. Patnaik also launched another scheme under the public distribution system (PDS) which required the distribution of fortified rice as a pilot project in the Malkangiri District. Under this scheme, 5.40 lakh and PDS beneficiaries will be provided under 3,200 metric tonnes of vitamin-rich rice per month.

In setting up the distribution of fortified rice, the rice which contained vitamin B-12 and folic acid, a healthy diet for the poor, especially of women and girls. Food Security is the biggest social welfare program by the state government, 3.5 crore people of 93 lakh families will get benefit from the scheme, this project aims to ensure the poor person should not is deprived of food security, Earlier in 2008 and 2013, the state government has also provided rice at Rs 2 per Kg and Rs 1 per Kg rice.
