Nepal gives emergency nod to Indian Vaccine Covaxin

Nepal gives a green signal to the Covexin Corona vaccine made in India for emergency use. Nepal has become the third country in the world to validate this biotech vaccine.Covaxin has been 81% effective in final-stage trials on 26,000 people in India.


Amid the corona virus crisis, Nepal has expressed reliance on India's COVID-19 vaccine and has approved emergency use. Now, Nepal has become the third country in the world to mandate covaxin.

Nepal approved the India-made Covaxin Coronavirus vaccine for emergency use on friday. With this, Nepal has become the third country in the world that has approved this vaccine of India Biotech.Covaxin  has been 81% effective in final-stage trials on 26,000 people in India. India and the African country of Zimbabwe have already permitted the introduction of this vaccine.

The Department of Drug Administration of Nepal issued a statement saying that the Indian vaccine has been given conditional approval for emergency use. Nepal has so far received 2.3 million doses of AstraZeneca from India. In this, 10 lakh doses were gifted by India to Nepal. China has also promised to deliver 8 lakh doses of Corona vaccine to Nepal.

However, China has not yet made any statement about when the corona vaccine will be given. Nepal has given this at a time when its corona vaccine dose has come to an end and it has stopped vaccination. The Spokesperson of the Health Department of Nepal Jageshwar Gautam said that in January, 16 lakh doses were received for the first practice of corona vaccination. Now we do not have enough vaccines.

40 countries have shown interest in the coronavirus vaccine, Gautam said that the vaccination will remain closed until the vaccine is introduced. So far, nearly three lakh cases of corona virus have been reported in Nepal and 3,016 people have died due to coronavirus so far. Meanwhile, Bharat Biotech has said that 40 countries have shown interest in its coronavirus vaccine. Efforts are being made to get this vaccine approved in Brazil, Philippines and Thailand.
