New Covid-19 restrictions in Bengaluru ahead of Upcoming festivals and a fine of rupees 250 will be imposed on people who are found flouting the mandatory face mask rule.


On Thursday (19 August), The Bengaluru civic body, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) issued new Covid-19 restrictions in the city ahead of the upcoming festival and unprecedented third wave of Covid-19.

According to the statement, BBMP said, "BBMP health officials must raise awareness regarding Covid preventive measures issued by headquarters amongst public and vendors on the previous day and other days of the festivals via loudspeakers." It also added that "Raise awareness regarding Covid-19 preventive measures issued by headquarters amongst public and merchants on the previous day and the day of the festival via loudspeakers using the patrol vehicles deployed to the marshals to eight zonal levels by the chief Marshal."

Whereas Bengaluru civic body also announced that a fine of rupees 250 will be imposed on people who are found flouting the mandatory face mask rule. It also said that at least staff of malls, shop owners, and restaurants must be vaccinated with a minimum of one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Surprise  visits will be conducted by marshals, senior and junior health inspectors to inspect Covid-19 protocol at public places."

Covid-19 cases are gradually declining in a few states whereas some states are issuing fresh guidelines in view of the third wave as well as upcoming festivals.
