New 'Out of Control' Covid strain in UK doesn't appear to be any deadlier: Vivek Murthy

The US President-elect Joe Biden's nominee, Indian-American, Vivek Murthy for the post of Surgeon General declared that there's no evidence to support the fact that this new corona virus variant reported in UK is more deadly. Meanwhile, United Kingdom imposed a stringent lockdown on Saturday, cancelling all the Christmas celebrations and barring people to stay indoors. 43 year old, Murthy stressed on the effectiveness of vaccine, driving away the skepticism shrouding the vaccine's ability to counter new strain in virus, confiding the people in strength of medication.

"The news from the UK about the advent of a new strain of the virus being more transmissible, more contagious than the virus we've encountered," he said. Retaliating to growing threats, several countries suspended the flights from the UK amid the out of control situation in England. Scientists made a claim that the new strain in virus emerged from a country with lower capability to monitor mutations in virus.

Murthy asserted that there's no room for panic and havoc at present. Such mutations will come in our way but people have to abide by the precautionary guidelines suggested by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and government. Social distancing, appropriate masking and hand washing are key steps to be undertaken in order to ensure personal safety and hygiene. On reacting to vaccine outflow he said, "About the concerns about vaccine timeline, we all want vaccines to reach people fastly and fairly."
