New Zealand vs Bangladesh: Ross Taylor breaks down in his last Test

Taylor scored 28 runs and took the final wicket of Bangladesh to hand his team the victory


The second Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh ended with the host emerging victorious. The two-match Test series ended in a 1-1 draw.

 

Meanwhile, Ross Taylor took retirement from Test cricket. Ross played his 112th and the last Test in which he took the final wicket of Bangladesh innings as the hosts defeated the visitors by 117 runs.

 

The New Zealand cricket team had put 521 runs on the board with a double century from Captain Tom Latham in the first and only inning of the match for the Kiwis.

 

New Zealand dismissed Bangladesh out for 126 runs in their first inning, and even though Liton Das scored a quickfire 102, that was not enough for them to save the match as the Bangla Tigers were dismissed for 278 runs. New Zealand won the match by an inning and 117 runs.

 

Taylor was in tears during the national anthem before the beginning of the match, and it melts every cricket fans’ heart.

Bangladesh welcomed the man onto the pitch with a Guard of Honour, while the fans gave him the standing ovation. He came in at number four and scored 28 runs before he was dismissed by Ebadot Hossain.

 

Following the victory, Ross Taylor gave an emotional interview, where he talked about the match and expressed his gratitude towards not only his team but also Bangladesh.

 

Social media also went into overdrive with fans players and journalists hailing Taylor for his glittering Test career and his fairytale finish.
