Nitin Gadkari to launch the foundation stone of National Highway projects

This ceremony will take place in Jammu today


Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation stone of 25 National Highway projects in Jammu today.  The project is around 257 km in terms of total length.


According to the statement given by the ministry, it said, "These are the strategically important movement of defense forces along with agricultural, industrial and socio-economic progress of the region"  adding more it also said," The projects will involve rehabilitation and up-gradation of some sections, construction of viaduct and tunnel and rectification of black spots."


As per the official statement released by the Ministry of road  transport and Highway, it said, "these projects with an investment of Rs 11,721 crores will provide all-weather connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir valley ." It also said it will connect all major roads leading to various district headquarters and will help in the generation of employment and self-employment opportunities.


According to the report by the Ministry of Road, Transport, and Highways (MoRTH), the construction of the National highway touched 37 kilometres per day in the year 2020-21.

 


The government is also planning to add one lakh kilometers of a road network to the existing National highways in the Next four years.
