Nizamuddin Markaz mosque can be operational during Ramadan: Delhi HC


Amid the rising Covid-19 cases in the national capital. The Delhi High court on Monday allowed the Markaz mosque in Hazrat Nizamuddin area of South Delhi to be operational for the devotees to offer prayer during the month of Ramadan.

According to Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA),  offering of prayer at the mosque during Ramadan starting from 14th April will be done according to the guidelines concerning social distancing and all the safety precautions in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Mr Nair, advocate, he said that the names of the office bearers and staff who will be running, managing and dealing day to day operational issues of the mosque will be given to the Station House Officer (SHO).The centre submitted to Justice Mukta Gupta during the hearing of a plea by the waqf board. The petition filed by the board sought the opening of the Mosque where the Tablighi Jamaat congregation was held last year and has been kept locked since March 2020.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Government  has also imposed a night curfew  in the national capital  due to a surge in Covid-19 cases and it has been imposed  from 10 pm to 5 am till 30th April. Whereas Delhi reported 1,491 new Covid-19 cases and 72 deaths in 24 hours.
