No Option To Choose From The Two Vaccine Says: Union Health Minister

On 12th Jan Tuesday, According to Union Health Minister the recipients have no option to choose from the two vaccines.


Healthcare experts and the Govt. have started the first batch vaccine distribution nationwide. On 12th January 487 boxes of COVID-19 Vaccines have transported from Pune to 13 cities. According to the Union Health Minister, the recipients have no option to choose from the two vaccines that were approved for emergency use.

The Government has approved two vaccines for the recipients,  Covishield by the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India and the homemade Covaxin, developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech along with the Indian Council of Medical research.

According to a joint conference by the health ministers, Indian Council of Medical Research and the Niti Aayog  the second dose of the vaccination will be given to the recipient after 28 days. Also, the vaccine is expected to offer protection 14 days after the second dose is given.According to the conference, the procedure of vaccination was thoroughly explained. The recipient of the vaccine will receive a  message one day before from the administered vaccine. According to the experts and officials, almost one-crore registrations has been registered through the CO-Win App. CO-Win App has been a huge platform to manage and check the latest registration for the recipients of vaccines within the drive against COVID-19.

The vaccination can start from 16th January, Saturday. The vaccine can 1st be given to one crore health care employees, followed by two crore frontline employees and 27 crore citizens over the age of fifty and people with co-morbidities.

The Govt. has ensured the recipients that every procedure will be taken under the experts with all safety precautions. There'll be continuous oversight and private involvement within the entire method of roll-out.

According to the officials, the Covishield will cost 220 INR each dose whereas the Covaxin will cost 206 INR each dose.
