No Vaccine, No Paid Salaries for civil employees of Thane says: Official

A vaccination drive is initiated in Mumbai, schools and colleges are creating awareness


Thane: The Thane Municipality has announced that no wages will be given to those employees who haven't taken even a single shot of COVID vaccination. This decision was taken during a meeting of senior officials including, Thane Mayor Naresh Mhaske.

According to an official release issued late Monday night, the civic employees who have not taken the first dose, will not be paid salaries.

Also, the release said that those who haven't got the second dose done within the stipulated period will not be paid salaries.

The civic body has made it mandatory for all civic workers to submit their vaccination documents at their respective offices.

These measures are part of an effort to achieve the target of a cent per cent vaccination in the city by this month-end, Mr Mhaske told reporters after the meeting.

The Mayor also talked about initiating a massive vaccination drive in the city, starting from Mumbai on Tuesday. He urged the public for giving maximum support to make this drive successful in vaccinating Mumbai. Those who have got their first shot can take the second through this drive.

The Corporation has made available different vaccination centres, including ''on-wheels'' inoculation facilities and jumbo vaccination centres. Regular outreach camps are also being held in the city, he said.

According to the release, Many schools and colleges have taken part to create awareness about the vaccination drive. Also, garbage trucks are making an announcement on huge loudspeakers about the same. The students will pass on the message about the importance of vaccination to their parents.
