NTA makes changes in JEE Exam eligibility...

Criteria may change, exams are not postponed...

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to make changes in the eligibility criteria for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).

In the eligibility criteria the Ministry of Education (MoE) decides that apart from 75 per cent in the 12th exam the students who have scored from top 20 percentile of all boards are eligible to appear in the exam. This relaxation in the eligibility will help students to compete for seats.

A PIL is filed in Bombay High Court to postpone the JEE Exam. Many parents and students requested on twitter to postpone the exam and to remove this eligibility criteria. On 11 January 2023, the court has refused to postpone the dates of the exam as the last submission for the exam form will be on 12 January 2023.

According to MoE the changes to include 20 percentiles in the eligibility criteria, apart from their AIR (All India Rank) in JEE mains are taken forward to ensure that those students who didn’t score 75 percent will not suffer or miss the opportunity to appear in the examination and can participate further in admission procedure.

The first session of the NTA exam is scheduled between 24 to 31 January.
