Omicron tally rises in India


On Sunday, India reported 17 more cases of the New COVID variant "Omicron" out of which nine people are from Rajasthan's Jaipur, seven from Maharashtra's Pune district, and one from National Capital-Delhi.

 

The overall tally for the new variant has peaked at 21 cases in India. The fear among the people is high. The new Variant is creating concern for the population.  As per the information, those who tested positive have arrived from African countries or were in contact with such people. The other tested positive in the National Capital was a fully vaccinated many arrived in Delhi from Tanzania. For Maharashtra, the cases include a woman along with her two daughters who came from Nigeria who has been infected with the new variant.


According to the statement given by Delhi health Minister, Satyendar Jain said, Authorities are trying to locate and isolate 10 people who occupied the seats close to this passenger on the flight. 17 COVID-19 patients and six of their contacts have been admitted to the LNJP Hospital so far. Adding more he said, banning international flights is the most effective way to contain the spread of the Omicron variant even as he appealed to people to wear masks and take the COVID-19 vaccine.

He said there is a 99 percent chance that the mask can save people from all COVID-19 variants, be it Alpha, Beta, Delta, or Omicron. Under the new norms, RT-PCR tests are mandatory for passengers arriving from the "at-risk" countries and they will be allowed to leave the airport only after the results come.

 

The cases of Omicron are now creating fear among the population. Many states are achieving their inoculation target, also few are implementing guidelines to be followed during traveling.
