Omicron Tally Surges to 961

Delhi and Maharashtra cases at the peak


The Covid-19 led New Variant Omicron cases are rising in the Country. The omicron tally touched 961. National capital Delhi and Maharashtra are on the priority list, witnessing an incessant rise in the omicron cases.



According to the data given by the Union Ministry of Health and family welfare, it said India's omicron cases rose to 961 across the country, an increase of 180 infections reported a day before. It also said 13,154 new cases of Coronavirus disease were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 34.8 million.



National capital Delhi reported 263 cases of Omicron, Maharashtra reported 252, and Gujarat 97 cases of Omicron in the state.

According to the Ministry's data 320 out of 961 omicron patients have been discharged.



According to the statement given by Ministry, it said, "With the Administration of 63, 91,282 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India's Covid vaccination coverage has exceeded 143.83Cr (1, 43, 83, 22,742) as per provisional reports till 7 am today." Meanwhile, many other states have imposed curbs like no vaccination, no entry in the respective places across the state.



Omicron cases have given a shift towards lockdown-like scenarios in a few states. Many states implemented Covid led restrictions, ban in vehicular movement, night curfew and also ban in a few public gathering places to curb the infection level ahead of New Year.
