P.M. Narendra Modi takes a tri-city tour to inspect Covid Vaccine Development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tookes the initiative to personally review the development of the Coronavirus Vaccine and the manufacturing process in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Pune


As per today’s schedule, PM Modi will start his three-city tour for a vaccine with a visit to pharma major Zydus Cadila's plant which is located in the Changodar Industrial area, Ahmedabad.

The Prime Minister arrived at the Ahmedabad airport a little before 9:30. and continued his work in the same area for an hour, an official said. The drugmaker has shared the information that the first phase of the clinical trial of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, ZyCoV-D, has been completed and it will commence the phase-II of clinical trials in the month of August.

From Ahmedabad Airport, PM Modi will take a flight towards Pune where Serum Institute of India (SII), partnered with global pharma giant AstraZeneca and Oxford University for a COVID-19 vaccine which is helping to fight against the virus. PM Modi is expecting the information of the vaccine from launch, production, manufacturing to distribution mechanisms during the visit.

Lastly, The Prime Minister will travel to Hyderabad from Pune and he will reach and move ahead with Bharat BioTech, which is working on Covaxin, pitched as India's first indigenous vaccine candidate. The Prime Minister is expected to report at 3:40 pm at Hyderabad Airport and after a visit to the facility between 4 and 5 pm, he will take a flight at 5:40 pm for Delhi.

Yesterday, the PMO  tweeted  "As India enters a decisive phase of the fight against COVID-19, PM Narendra Modi's visit to these facilities and discussions with the scientists will help him get a first-hand perspective of the preparations, challenges, and roadmap in India's endeavor to vaccinate its citizens,"
