PM Modi Inaugurates Khelo India Winter Games In J&K’s Gulmarg

Khelo India Winter Games inaugurated by PM in Gulmarg


The second Khelo India Winter Games in Gulmarg was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today where he said that this is a step taken towards making Jammu Kashmir a hub for winter sports. There are athletes from 27 states and Union Territories in the game which comes to a conclusion on March 2.

In his virtual address PM Modi said “This is a step towards making India’s presence felt in the international winter games arena and also make JammuKashmir a hub of winter sports. These games in Gulmarg show that Jammu Kashmir is eager to reach new heights of peace and development. These games will resolve for ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat.” He added “ I am told the participation is doubled this year and it is a reflection of the inclination towards winter sports in the country.”

The games are being organized by the sports ministry and Winter Games Association of Jammu Kashmir. The various sports and games to be played during the tournament includes alpine skiing, nordic ski, snowboarding, ski mountaineering, ice hockey and ice skating among others.
