PM Modi : India committed to ensuring safe habitats for tigers

Narendra Modi tweeted India is the home of tiger reserves spread across 18 states. As from the last tiger census, there is a number rise in the population of tigers.


On the celebration of International Tiger Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has talked about ensuring the safety of habitats for tigers and nurturing tiger-friendly ecosystems. Also, he has extended greetings to wildlife lovers, especially to the lovers of the tiger, on this International Tiger Day.

Sharing his view, the P.M. tweeted, India is the home of tiger reserves spread across  18 states. As from the last tiger census, there is a considerable rise in the population of tigers. India has already achieved its aim in raising the number of tigers in 4 years ahead of the schedule of St. Petersburg Declaration on Tiger Conservation.He has further given importance to India’s strategy of tiger conservation which especially involved the local communities. He emphasised on the traditions and culture of the country which focus on harmony and coexistence. 

Each year, 29 July, is marked as International Tiger’s day to commemorate protection of tigers in the natural habitats, to raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues.
