PM Modi remembers Sardar Patel
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, extended his heartfelt gratitude and tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary. On Tuesday, PM Modi lauded the efforts of the great freedom fighter who laid the foundations of a strong, prosperous and united nation by intertwining numerous divisions of the country with a single thread of unity, trust, respect and togetherness. PM referred to him as 'iron man' due to his undaunted and undeterred determination to build this nation and instill nationhood among citizens.
"The path enlightened by him safeguarded equality, equity, unity, integrity and sovereignty in the nation", as said by the PM in his tweet. The legacy of a courageous leader will be remembered and passed on to posterity. He always inspires the youth to do good deeds, holding a vision of truth. Patel always believed that the only weapon to brave all the outside ravages and attacks is unity. May our culture, tradition, language, rituals and beliefs make us a part of a diverse nation, but the glue that binds us altogether is the feeling of belongingness to this nation. Individually we may uphold our ideas and stance but together all we express is pride of being Indian.
Sardar Patel led the movement of integration of India as a whole. He became India's first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. Patel was the torch bearer of the notion to unify hundreds of princely states with the Union of India after Independence by adopting persuasion, dialogue and forces when required. It is because of his efforts that today from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, 135 crore citizens identify themselves as Indians and hold the courage to sacrifice their lives to defend honour and dignity of India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always highlighted his deep admiration and respect for him and as a badge of nation's regards and gratitude to such a noble man, he inaugurated Statue of Unity in honour on 31 October 2018 which is a colossal sculpture of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
