PM Modi urges people to be alert, Omicron alert

PMGKY yojana extended till march


On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people to be alert with the New Variant Omicron. The New Variant is creating havoc among the population and also is creating risk in travel.

According to the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address ahead of the beginning of the winter session said, "We have administered more than 100 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine during the challenging times of the pandemic. Now we are moving towards 159 crore doses. The news of the emergence of a new Coronavirus Variant makes us more alert. We all should stay alert because of Covid-19."  Adding more he said the government's priority is the good health of the countrymen.

Prime minister Narendra Modi also announced that the extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana(PMGKY), which mainly aims to provide free grains, has been extended by March 2022.

 

According to the Prime minister's office (PMO), the prime minister highlighted the need for monitoring all international arrivals, their testing as per guidelines, with a specific focus on countries identified at risk. He also asked officials to review plans for easing international travel restrictions in light of the emerging new evidence.

 

Several countries across the globe are planning and re-imposing the guideline for appropriate behavior and travel. Also, few countries have imposed a Ban for some respective countries which are witnessing a high number of Covid-19 new Variant Omicron cases.
