Positivity rate high at crowded markets

Covid-19 test confirms worst fear in crowded market

The capital is battling with a severe covid-19 explosion which has found a high prevalence of the infection among the shopkeepers in the market such as those in West Delhi which have recorded heavy footfall ahead of Diwali.

According to an official, on Sunday around 225 shopkeepers near Tilak Nagar, Raghubir Nagar and Jail Road market-tested out of which around 41 people more than 18 % have been tested positive covid-19 test was done through RT-PCR method.

West Delhi magistrate Neha Bansal, said that" expressing worry over the development administration was compelled to carry out testing and its repeated request to the market association to implement preventive measures were unheeded". she said that the shops whose owners or managers have tested positive to be shut by the administration for 'three days 'we are left with no other option , the district Administration is doing all that it can but people need to co-operate,  the market is teeming with shoppers. The shop owners also need to realise that they can potentially dissipate the infection among a huge number of people.

According to a senior Delhi government official, a surveillance officer also underlined the near-impossible task of tracing contacts. However the worrying part is that even basic norms that of wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing are not being followed by the people. A few days ago Delhi C.M., Arvind Kejriwal called this as a third covid wave with 30,9795 cases active on Monday over 16,000 out of which have surfaced in the last two weeks.

Satyendra Jain Delhi health minister on 4th November has announced the Government's plan to carry out the targeted task of testing at the market places and other crowded areas.
