Praveen Kumar Bags Silver Medal In Men's High Jump

The ongoing Paralympic Games have proved to be the best in Indian history and the country has so far won two gold, six silver and three bronze medals.


The Indian athlete Praveen Kumar won the silver medal in the men's T64 high jump and took the country's medal tally to eleven at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. The Briton Jonathan Broom-Edwards set the best record of the season of 2.10m for gold. Bronze went to the Rio Games Champion, Maciej Lepiato from Poland, who achieved a performance of 2.04 m. The classification T64 is for athletes with leg amputation who compete with prostheses while standing.

T44, the disability classification that Kumar has but is eligible to participate in T64, which is for athletes with a leg disability, leg length discrepancy, limited muscle strength, or limited passive mobility of the legs. His congenital defect affects the bones that connect his hip to his left leg.
