Punjab: Ventilators supplied under PM Cares Fund develop snags within hours


Ventilators supplied under PM care Fund developed snag within hours in Punjab's hospital. Whereas 71 out of 80 ventilators supplied to Guru Gobind Medical college and Hospital in Faridkot have reportedly been found faulty. These ventilators were provided under PM cares fund by AgVa healthcare. 

According to doctors of the medical college, they said that these ventilators are non-functional and gets off within 1 to 2 hours of use. Anaesthetists have said that these ventilators sent by the Centre can't be trusted as the machines abruptly stopped working while using.

Dr. Raj Bahadur, Vice-chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot said that "The quality of the ventilators is significantly inferior. These machines are constantly hit by snags. So we can't  use it until we have a trusted repair mechanism in place." Whereas the medical college has 39 ventilators out of which 32 are functional.
