Puri's Jagannath Temple To Reopen Gradually For Public from August 16

The temple will be open for the public from August 16 whereas for Temple Sevaks it will open from August 12.


The Administration of Shree Jagannatha Temple on Wednesday said the temple located in Puri, will be opened to the public from August 16 onwards. As per the COVID-19 guidelines, people should follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour and social distance protocols.

All believers will be allowed entry for the "Darshan of the Lords" from August 23. However, family members of the sevaks of the temple will be given preference and they will be allowed entry on August 12 and August 13. The timing will be from 7 am to 7 pm on all days when the temple will be open. Puri Municipality area residents will be allowed for "Darshan" from August 16 to August 20.

The temple will remain closed for the public, on Saturdays and Sundays for safety purposes and in order to sanitize the temple premises. Moreover, the temple will remain closed on the major festivals to avoid risk of spreading of the disease.
