Quinton de Kock is set to miss the second and third test against India

Quinton and his wife are expecting birth of baby

South Africa wicketkeeper and batsman Quinton de Kock will miss the second and third test of the three-match Test series against India.

Quinton de Kock will be on paternity leave as he and his wife are expecting a baby during that period.

Earlier, it was reported that the stumper batsman may miss the third test match only, however, during day three’s play a commentator confirmed that de Kock will skip the last two fixtures of the three-match test series against India.

He is currently part of the ongoing Day Test in the Centurion; he scored 34 runs with his bat.

South Africa vs India 2nd test match will begin on January 3 in Johannesburg while the final test will be in Cape Town, starting January 11.

It is going to be a huge blow for the South African side as Quinton is one of the best and experienced wicketkeeper-batsman they have. South Africa has two more wicketkeepers, Kyle Verreynne and Ryan Rickelton in the squad, but both of them don’t have the experience of playing in the Test.

As far as the ongoing Test is concerned the visitors managed to score 327 runs in the first innings, with the help of KL Rahul’s century (123) and Mayank’s brilliant half-century (60).

South Africa bowlers were amazing as well as Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi took 9 wickets. India lost their last 7 wickets for just 55 runs.

However, South African batters were facing difficulties in scoring runs as they were left reeling at 32/4 at one stage. India’s pace trio Shami, Bumrah, and Siraj didn’t let the hosts off the hook as they took wickets with the new ball.

The hosts were bowled out for 197 runs with M. Shami taking 5 wickets.
