Racist comments hurled at Mohammed Siraj: Australia vs India, 3rd Test

Six Australian spectators were driven out of the stand for passing racial remarks on Mohammed Siraj as well as his senior Jasprit Bumrah.

On Sunday, six spectators were made to leave the Sydney Cricket Ground after they allegedly hurled racist remarks at Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj during the ongoing Australia vs India Test match series. The incident occurred during the post-lunch session and the game was stopped for around 10 minutes after which the security staff and New South Wales Police entered the stands and pulled out six spectators from the spot. The police evicted them and took them into custody. Siraj was called a "Brown Dog" and "Big Monkey" by the Australian supporters , a BCCI official has alleged.

Siraj and his senior Jasprit Bumrah had faced racist remarks on Saturday as well. The Indian team management officially reported the incident to ICC Match Referee David Boon. On Saturday, the Indian team informed the match officials after the match ended as they did not want to lose focus but till then the spectators had already left. "Actually, the players didn't want to lose focus during the proceedings and decided that the matter would be reported only after the day's play was over. However, umpires have told us that moment anything of that nature happens, the players should report immediately," a BCCI source said.

In an official statement, Cricket Australia has condemned the discriminatory behaviour of the offenders and promised strongest action against them.
