Railways To Resume Catering Services From February 14

All Covid Protocols to be followed by Railway employees!


The Indian railways have stopped the meal services on the train during the Covid-19 pandemic but are all set to resume its meal Services by February 14. 

 

The cases of Covid-19 are decreasing across the country, and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has decided to resume serving cooked meals aboard all trains, the Railways said. 

 

According to the information, all the Covid-19 safety guidelines and protocols will be adhered to by the IRCTC employees. The decision has come as a welcome relief for long-distance travelers - this decision would allow them to now have fresh meals during their journey.

 

The forced stop in the catering services along with the bedding facilities in the train has created a lot of problems for the travelers.

 

Especially the long journey travelers were facing a lot of issues after which this decision came to focus witnessing a decline in the daily tally of Covid-19 cases.

 

According to News agency, ANI quoted a communication from the Indian Railways as saying that meal services had been restored on 80 percent of trains by January this year.

 

The remaining 20 percent of trains will start offering the meal services by February 14.

 

The IRCTC had started an e-catering service in the year 2014 whereby passengers could order an array of food of their choice from reputed brands as well as popular regional and local delicacies on phone or online while travelling on trains and get the same delivered to their seats at the railway station. 

 

According to the data it said, During the pre-COVID period, IRCTC had started clocking 20,000 e-catering orders per day.
