Railways to resume pantry services

Meals will be provided on the train

On Friday, railways announced that they will provide cooked meals on trains. The services were shut due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The cases were rising and public commuting was on the rise during the peak.

The railway board in a letter on Friday, asked the Indian railway catering and Tourism (IRCTC) to reopen its kitchen, serve food and resume the service.

According to the statement given to PTI, because of the restoration of normal train services, requirements of traveling passengers, and easing of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions in eateries, restaurants, hotels, and such other places across the country. It has been decided by the ministry of railways to resume the services of cooked food in trains."

As per the information, the passengers were only able to get the services such as tea, coffee, ready-to-eat items, soup, and snacks. This was creating a lot of problems in terms of fooding for long-distance travelers.  Not only food but other services of providing bedding facilities were also closed during the peak.
