Indian cricket team wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has tested positive for Covid-19.According to the report by the BCCI,  Pant has tested positive and was in isolation for the past eight days. He is asymptomatic at this point, said the sources. Adding that it said, "He is quarantined at an acquaintance's place and won't be travelling with the team to Durham on Thursday. 

As per the source, the left-hander experienced a sore throat, which led to a Covid-19 test and it returned positive. His teammates and support staff, who came in contact with the player, were kept in isolation for three days and they have completed their isolation period.

According to the statement given by ECB chief executive, Tom Harrison, "we have been mindful that the emergence of Delta variant, along with our move away from the stringent enforcement of biosecure envi, could increase the chances of an outbreak. we made a strategic choice to try to adapt protocols, to support the overall wellbeing of our players and management staff who have spent much of the last 14 months living in very restricted conditions."

Meanwhile, the Indian team is due to take on England in a five-match test ser8es starting from August 4. It will play a practice game which is going to be started from July 20 as a build-up to the high-intensity series.
