RT -PCR not mandatory in Maharashtra


 

The Maharashtra government issued an order for strict travel curbs to minimize the spread of deadly New Omicron variants. 


 

According to state health minister Rajesh Tope, it has deferred the point mandating negative RT -PCR test for 48 hours prior to entering Maharashtra for domestic flyers. He said, "At present, we have deferred the clause which mandated negative RT-PCR tests for domestic passages. The necessary order will be issued in the immediate future. I don't  think there is any logic in keeping this clause...I think we have to fall in line with the government of India's guidelines." 


 

For international passengers, the information mentioned it is not going to scale down its order, which includes seven-day quarantine and compulsory RT -PCR for all the international travelers.


 

According to Maharashtra chief secretary Debasish Chakraborty said, the center's advisory would be considered as would be required in the context of a specific situation in the state." Adding more it said," we have received a letter from the union health secretary which is an advisory that mentions we should modify our orders in accordance with directions of the government of India. It said for now we will continue the guideline which were issued yesterday "


The cases of Omicron have created fear among the Population. The traveling restrictions have been issued by the respective state government and health ministers. The government has also issued a travel guideline to be followed for the new variant Omicron.
