Many houses and land got destroyed due to flood
Torrential rains led to floods and mudslides in northern and western Rwanda, resulting in the death of at least 130 people, according to the state-run broadcaster. The broadcaster also cautioned that the number might increase.
According to the website of the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA), the rainfall from the previous night resulted in calamities in the Northern and Western regions.
At present, the temporary data released by the provincial authorities indicates that 130’ individuals have been pronounced dead.
The visuals uploaded on RBA's Twitter handle exhibited residences inundated in torrents of mire, thoroughfares obstructed by landslips, and deluged tillage. The broadcaster reported that the floodwaters were increasing and posed a danger to additional individuals.
According to the statement, the majority of fatalities happened in the Western Province which is adjacent to Lake Kivu. The report also indicated that the floods have resulted in the destruction of residential properties, public facilities and road blockages.

Rains and flooding have also hit other countries of East Africa, including Uganda, where six people have been killed.
Rwanda's minister in charge of emergency management, Marie Solange Kayisire, told RBA that relief operations were started immediately which included burying the victims, evacuating the people and providing supplies to those whose homes we’re destroyed She called on local residents to increase patrols, especially at night, so people could be moved to safer ground when it rains heavily.
