Schools to reopen in Maharashtra, Teachers testing begin after 17th of November

Post Diwali students are going to attend school in Maharashtra

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday announced that Maharashtra schools would reopen after Diwali while taking all precautionary measures. 9th to 12th grade schools will be reopened after a 7-month gap from November 23, 2020. Teachers will have to undergo RT-PCR testing for COVID-19 from November 17 to 22.

Chief Minister Thackeray also said safety measures such as hygiene on school premises and teacher's health screening would be conducted by the government before the schools reopened. He also pointed out that students who are ill or have sick members at home, should not be sent to schools by their parents at this time. The Department of School Education will soon be releasing detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on school openings.

School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad on Sunday said only one child would be allowed to sit on one bench and classes would be held on other days. The provincial education minister also said students would be asked to come to school after dinner and would have to bring their own bottles of water. School hours will be reduced to four hours, during which only science, math, and English will be taught. In some courses, online reading will continue. In the meantime, schools of other classes will begin in stages.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra SSC, HSC Board Exams 2021 will be held in May 2021. Gaikwad a few days ago in an interview said, the Maharashtra 2021 Board exams are not taking place before May due to the pandemic. The national government has already reduced the SSC and HSC exam syllabus by 25 percent to make up for the loss time.
