Section 144 Imposed in Gautam Buddha Nagar Till 31st January

People violating the guidelines will be booked under section 188

Gautam Buddha Nagar police on Saturday said that Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which prohibits the gathering of four or more people in public space, will now be in force till January 31.

The order has been issued to slow down the spread of the Omicron Virus.

"During this period, there will be several competitive examinations for which the administration has to make preparations to smoothly conduct them," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ashutosh Dwivedi, said in the order.

The district police have already imposed section 144 of the CrPC last month, which was valid till December 31. The revised order mandated Section 144 in the district till January 31, he added.

Dwivedi further said that the police will also make necessary arrangements to conduct examinations in the district.

“The examinee should not carry calculators, mobile phones or any prohibited items in examination halls. The police will also ensure that no photocopy shop remains open around 200 metres from the examination centres on the day of the exam and a day before to check malpractice,” he said.

Any kind of protest or gathering will not be allowed during this period.

Wearing a mask will be mandatory for all people whenever they step out of their homes. People have to take prior permission from the authority for all events till January 31. Meanwhile, only 200 people will be allowed in marriage functions in closed spaces.

Reports also suggest that the restrictions have been imposed ahead of 26 January and Uttar Pradesh foundation day on 24 January and a likely visit of Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath during this period.

According to the guidelines, people disobeying the order will be charged under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
