SHILLONG TURNS PINK IN OCTOBER

Shillong the capital city of Meghalaya which holds the India International Cherry Blossom Festival every year has been cancelled this year due to the novel corona-virus pandemic that has hit the entire world.

The pandemic could not restrict the pretty flowers from adorning trees and covering most of the roads in the hills. This pandemic has truly restricted humans to stay indoors but it has no control on Mother Nature. In the pre-COVID days the hill station would be full of tourists to be a part of the most famous Cherry Blossom Festival, but unfortunately there will not be any admirers present this year.

The flowers are expected to bloom till early November. One has to see the flowers with their naked eyes to understand how alluring and beautiful it can be and mesmerize the visitors.

The cherry blossom is also known as Prunus Cerasoides are considered as a gift from the Himalayas and they cover the whole east and west Khasi hills. The vibrant and prepossessing flowers mainly grow in the wilds but it can be seen all around the state at this time of the year.

This pandemic has made travels very difficult and almost impossible for everyone as traveling can put us on a great risk to either spread the virus or get infected by it. In a strange way nature restricts all sorts of movements by human beings and lets its flora and fauna to flourish immensely.

It is best advised to stay home and stay safe preferably and enjoy the pictures.
