Some areas in Delhi will face a water Shortage

Officials said on Monday, in New Delhi the water supply will be affected in parts of South Delhi and Northeast Delhi areas.

According to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), due to floating algae from the upper Ganga canal water supply will be affected in some areas, including Murad Nagar which provides raw water to the Sonia Vihar water treatment plant.

This month is the second time that the board issued an alert due to the problem. According to a statement issued by the agency, they have been facing the problem for the last 25 days because of which production of clear water at the WTP has been affected.

The areas in Northeast Delhi to be affected include Babarpur, Karawal Nagar, Gokulpuri, Shashtri Park, Brahmpuri, Gandhi Nagar, and in south Delhi — South Extension, Vasant Kunj and Greater Kailash, among others.

People are advised to store an extra sufficient quantity of water in advance due to the problem. Water tanker will be available on request” the DJB said in the alert further.
