Special vaccination drive started for college students in Maharashtra

The vaccination drive will continue till November 2


Maharashtra Health Minister announced a special vaccination drive for college-goers in Maharashtra state. This drive was initiated on October 21 whose main aim is to inoculate the young youths and college-goers between the ages of 18 to 25  who are returning to their normal schedule now.


 

According to the statement, Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said"vaccination, especially among the youth, is the need of the hour as they have to travel the most. Adding more the Minister said, those universities and colleges which perform well in this inoculation drive will be rewarded". 


Maharashtra state has witnessed harsh hits of Covid-19. The state was under the worst-hit states.  Meanwhile, it led to closure in day to day activities and other schedules. After witnessing a slowdown it is returning to normal life. The colleges in Maharashtra state have been reopened whereas malls, theatres, auditoriums and cinema halls have also been reopen in the state with 50 per cent capacity.  After Which the state health minister is initiating several campaigns to inoculate the young youth and save them from getting contracted with the deadly virus. 


 

The main aim to inoculate is because the youths require much travelling and the infection risk is high. Also, With the upcoming festival, the public rush may also lead to an increase in Covid-19 cases. 


On Sunday, Maharashtra reported 1,410 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours. Around 1,500 patients have been recovered from the deadly virus and 18 lost their lives with it. 23,894 are active patients in the state.
