Steph Curry Becomes First NBA Player To Hit 3,000 Career 3 Pointers

Stephen Curry: It was cool to reach that milestone

Stephen Curry on Tuesday became the first NBA player to hit 3,000 career 3 pointers in the regular season.

Curry hit the mark during the Golden State Warriors' contest against the Denver Nuggets at Chase Center.

Steph Curry started the game against Denver needing just one more three to get to the 3,000 mark. However, Curry struggled to knock down a long-range attempt for much of the game. He had just two points in the opening half and missed his first seven attempts from downtown. Steph Curry finally reached the milestone when he knocked down a three with 4.7 seconds left in the third quarter even as the Warriors trailed the Nuggets by double digits.

Steph broke the record of Ray Allen as the NBA's all-time leading three-point scorer in the regular season. Curry achieved the feat in a game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on December 14.

Steph Curry took 789 NBA regular-season games to break Allen's mark. It took him another five games to set the 3,000 triples record.

NBA TV tweeted for the same, “Yet another milestone for @StephenCurry30. He hits his, 3,000th career three-pointers.”

His 3 pointer also extended his ongoing streak of games with at least one 3- pointer to 157 matching his own NBA record that he made from Nov. 13, 2014, to Nov. 3, 2016.

“No. 3000, 157- straight games with a triple. Steph Curry historic season rolls on.” NBA tweeted.

“It was cool to reach that milestone. It’s a pretty awesome accomplishment,” Steph said postgame. “It’s a kind of weird thought to think for the rest of my career, for the most part, I’m pretty sure every three I make will be a new record so I’m just going to enjoy it.”

“The same thing when I hit 400 in a season, you don’t put limits on what can happen, you just hoop and enjoy yourself and see what happens when it’s all said and done.”
