Sudhir Suri Shot Dead: Shiv Sena Leader

The Incident took place outside Gopal Mandir on Majitha Road – one of the busiest places in the city – where Suri and some other leaders of the party were holding a protest, they said.

 

The indicted has been arrested and the weapon used in the crime seized.

 

According to police, further than five shots were fired at Suri after which he fell down and lost knowledge. He was taken to a sanitarium where he succumbed to pellet injuries, they said.

 

State police chief Gaurav Yadav said he died at the hospital, due to the gunshot injuries. “He was on a dharna over a dispute of Gopal Mandir management. The attacker has a garment shop there. He fired bullets from his licensed .32-bore revolver. Some of the bullets hit [Sudhir Suri] and he was taken to hospital immediately,” DGP Yadav said.

 

The indicted, linked as Sandeep Singh, a occupant of Sultanwind area of Amritsar megacity, has been arrested and the armament used in the crime seized, police said.

The contended Indicted Is being interrogated to bring out the motive behind the payoff, they said.

 

Suri was in the megahit list of several mobsters for a long time and was handed security by the government with around eight Punjab Police labor force being attached with him, they said.

 

Replying to the incident, Punjab BJP chairman Ashwani Sharma said the law-and-order situation has fully broken down in the state.

 

Congress state chairman Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said the law and order in state was going from bad to worse.
