Supreme Court Slams state government over Covid Situation

Noting that the pandemic situation has worsened in places like Delhi and Gujarat, the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday asked the Center and 4 other states to file their status reports commissioning measures taken to deal with the current COVID-19 situations. The situation in Gujarat is going out of hand said the Supreme Court. In Delhi covid situations have deteriorated especially in the month of November.

“Worst things will happen in December if states aren’t well prepared”, the SC warned today and sought a status report from the state of Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Assam in two days over the rise of coronavirus cases in these states.

A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan told Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain who was presenting the Government of Delhi in front of the court to file a status report on what steps have been taken by the government. The SC said, we are hearing a huge spike in the current month. We want the latest status reports from all states.

The Center told the top court about the various measures taken in Delhi by Amit Shah the Union Home Minister in order to control the coronavirus infections. “Delhi has to answer to a lot of things”- the Center said pinning the blame to the Arvind Kejriwal Government.

The national capital state of Delhi is the sixth-worst hit state with COVID-19 cases crossing its mark to 5.29 lakh. Delhi has also been struggling to contain the surge of the pandemic.
