Telangana, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh-Yellow alert for next 24 hours


Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are seeing heavy rain since the last two days due to a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal.The India Meteorological Department today issued yellow alert for Hyderabad as it said that the deep depression was now moving towards Maharashtra.Heavy rains are expected in Vikarabad,Siddipet and Jagaon district of Telangana.

Considering the situation, the state government has declared a holiday for two day i.e.,today and tomorrow.Reports state that as many as 12 people have been killed in last 48 hours in Telangana. Nine people, including a two-month-old have died in Hyderabad after a compound wall collapsed and fell on ten houses due to heavy rain late night. In a separate incident, a 40-year-old woman and her teenage daughter also died after the roof of their house collapsed.

Telangana minster KT Rama Rao along with Talasani Srinivas Yadav calls for an emergency meeting with officials from various government department and agencies at Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Head Office to take stock of the situation in Hyderabad city. Normal life have been thrown out of gear in multiple parts of the city, Osmania University postpones exams following heavy rains that were scheduled for today and tomorrow as authorities have requested people to stay home and cooperate with relief and normalization tasks done by DRF. Around 500 people from 12 villages in Gajapati were shifted to temporary shelters as a precautionary measure, Santswarup Mishra, the Tasildar told news agency ANI.

The floodgates of the Himayat Sagar dam, that supplies water to Hyderabad, were opened last night after the water levels raised.
