The Gurdwara Association of Gurugram offers space to offer Friday Prayers

The President of the Gurudwara Association declares to give space to offer Namaz.

Gurugram: An assertive response of the Gurudwara association over the Friday Namaz issue happening since September on the streets of Gurugram. The Gurdwara association of Sadar Bazar has decided to offer its premises for Friday prayers following objections over the offering of namaz in public and open places.

According to the President of Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha, Sadar Bazar, Sherdil Singh Sidhu said, "It's 'Guru Ghar', open for all communities with no discrimination. There shouldn't be any politics here. The basement is now open for Muslim brothers who want to offer 'Jumme ki namaz."

He also added that "If there's an open space, Muslims should be allowed to offer namaz. We shouldn't fight over such petty issues. People who were offering namaz in the open sought the administration's permission and those who had problems should have approached the administration before attacking them."

The streets of Gurugram was going through a serious issue of where to offer Friday's Namaz. Earlier, the Gurugram officials had withdrawn consent to offer namaz at eight out of 37 designated sites.

According to the official statement of the District Govt. the permission was cancelled after an objection from local people and RWA.

"The Muslims didn't get a specific place to offer namaz, so they started praying in the parks and roads. This always creates traffic jams and disturbance within the area", said a local.

On several occasions earlier, residents of Gurugram have complained and staged a protest against Friday namaz at a public ground.

On 17th November, a Hindu resident gave space in front of his home to offer namaz to the Muslim community.
