The High Court of Allahabad will go online from today amid the Covid-19

Courts to go online mode from Monday

The regular operation of the Allahabad High Court will take place using online mode from Monday onwards due to the increase in Covid-19 cases reported in Uttar Pradesh and across the country. According to the statement, the 25 courts will be made operational at the initial hearing in visual mode but may increase or decrease according to existing workload (number of cases) and requirement. The case files, if required, will be filed with the Court and during the hearing of the case, "the statement said, adding that lawyers, Litigants-In-Person and clerks for lawyers will not be allowed to enter the High Court. Completion of cases, complaints, applications, and other relevant documents will be done in e-mode and physical form.

"The filing period will be set until 4 pm to clarify the timeliness and ensure that cases with sufficient numbers are sent to all courts," he added.

In addition, it stated that a 24/7 helpline would be set up to assist Advocates with matters pertaining to completing, listing, and other details related to their case. As a result of the Covid-19 overcrowding laws, the Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday announced new restrictions including a night-time curfew in districts and school closures until April 30. Regions reporting more than 100 cases daily or 500 active cases will be placed under night time, as required. At a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath, it was decided to conduct at least RT-PCR tests at least daily for lakhs to detect those who had contracted this deadly disease.
