Tokyo Paralympics: Shooters Manish Narwal, Singhraj Adana clinch gold, silver respectively

In his debut Games, the 19-year-old Narwal, shot a total of 218.2 to set a Paralympic record as well as seal the gold.


Indian shooter Manish Narwal clinched India's third gold whereas his fellow Singhraj Adana bagged silver in P4 Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event at the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics on Saturday. The Faridabad duo took India's medal tally to 15 and with these two medals, India has 3 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze in the bag.

In his debut Games, the 19-year-old Narwal, shot a total of 218.2 to set a Paralympic record as well as seal the gold. Manish also holds a world record in the category.

Meanwhile, Adana shot a total of 216.7 to secure the silver. This is not the only victory that the 39-year-old Adana has achieved in the Games. He also won bronze medal in the P1 men's 10m air pistol SH1 event on Tuesday. 

Singhraj has become one of the few Indians to achieve multiple medals in the same edition of the Games. Avani Lekhara is another shooter who achieved the feat by winning a gold and a bronze in the ongoing Paralympics. Earlier, in 1984, Joginder Singh Sodhi had won one silver and two bronze in the Games.

Sergey Malyshev of Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) had to settle for bronze with a shot of 196.8.
