U Mumba defeated Bengaluru Bulls in Pro Kabaddi League season 8 opener

Abhishek Singh was the star of the match

It is great news for all the Kabaddi fans as the Pro Kabaddi League has finally begun after a gap of a year. The competition did not take place last year due to the Covid-19 situation in the country.

Pro Kabaddi League season 8 (PKL) opener was played between U Mumba and Bengaluru Bulls.

U Mumba emerged victorious as they defeated the Bulls 46-30 on Wednesday.

Abhishek Singh was the star of the match; he clinched a super 10 (19 points) and was ably supported by the team’s defence in a statement victory by the season 2 champions.

There were no spectators at the stadium due to the Covid-19 threat.

The first raid of the season resulted in a successful tackle on the high flier Pawan Sehrawat by Harendra Kumar.

The match got off to an explosive start, as Pawan Sehrawat managed to pick a bonus but was promptly tackled down by Narendra. Ranjit’s excellent work helped the Bulls build a 4-1 lead, but their defence had no answer for Abhishek, who picked up point after point to help U Mumba inflict the game’s first All Out and give his side a comfortable lead.

But the season 6 champions, Bengaluru Bulls, were in no mood to let Mumbai open up a healthy lead. Chandran Ranjit produced two super raids (3 or more points) for the Bulls to close the gap but Bengaluru failed to inflict an ALL OUT when Abhishek Singh revived the team with a 4- point Super Raid.

At halftime, U Mumba had a seven-point lead over Bulls (24-17).

U Mumba inflicted another ALL OUT in the second minute of the other half. U Mumba’s Ajith Kumar and other defenders ensured that Bulls never narrowed the points gap.

Despite leading, U Mumba did not take their foot off the pedal as they fetched another ALL OUT with three minutes remaining to steal the match with 16 points lead.
