UEFA Champions League 2021-2022 Round of 16: Man United vs Atletico Madrid

Sergio Ramos to play against Real Madrid for the first time, as PSG draws Real Madrid

The UEFA Champion League 2021-22 Round of 16 draw was done again after errors surfaced in the original procedure.

UEFA said, “Following a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the official as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred in the draw of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.”

The mistake came when Manchester United was incorrectly used in and then excluded from the draw.

Real Madrid ended up paying the highest price for UEFA’s botched Champions League draw.

Madrid was paired with Paris Saint- Germain in the round of 16 on Monday. The Spanish club was initially drawn against Portuguese club Benfica but now instead faces the deadly trio of PSG’s attack, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Sergio Ramos will go head-to-head against his former club for the first time since he left the club.

Fans have to wait for the clash between the two legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The last time they played against each other was in December 2020, when Juventus faced Barcelona in the Champions League.

Here is the full set of matches:

  • Manchester City vs Sporting CP
  • Liverpool v Inter Milan
  • Real Madrid vs PSG
  • Bayern Munich vs FC Salzburg

Only one of the eight pairings that came out to be the same in both processes was Chelsea vs Lillie.

The round of 16 will begin from mid-Feb and the first match will be played between Real Madrid and PSG.
