UP govt likely to rename Yamuna expressway after former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Announcement to be made on November 25


The Uttar Pradesh government is likely to rename the Yamuna expressway after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. As per the reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make a formal announcement on November 25 at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Noida International airport in Jewar.


As per the information, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other BJP leaders will be present during the event and the formal announcement will also take place during the event.


According to a senior BJP leader, on the condition of anonymity said, "the decision (to rename the expressway) has been taken to give a token of respect to the most love politicians in India AB Vajpayee is respected by all, across party lines, and the renaming of the expressway will remind future generations about his greatness."



Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also  renamed

The Ekana international cricket stadium in Lucknow is "Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee International cricket stadium."


Yamuna expressway has a length of 165 kilometres and is six-lane wide. The highway was inaugurated on August 9, 2012, by the chief minister of the state, Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party. The route connects Greater Noida with Agra, and is also known as the "Taj expressway." Since March 2017 after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruling power many names have been changed and renamed. Several towns and railway stations to stadiums and halls have been renamed.
