Vaccination for Pregnant women to be started in Mumbai , BMC also announced that the drive will take place at 35 public centres.


Covid-19 Vaccination is actively taking place. Meanwhile, Vaccination for pregnant women has created a question: to be vaccinated or not? Meanwhile, Mumbai began its special vaccination drive for pregnant women from today (July 15).

According to the statement, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said it will be starting a special drive from Thursday to vaccinate pregnant women against Covid-19.BMC also announced that the drive will take place at 35 public centres. It also said that in about 10% of pregnant women, gestational diabetes, obesity, chronic respiratory diseases, immunosuppressive medication and heart disease increase the risk of acute infection of Covid-19 and in case of a sudden decline in health, they may need to be admitted to the Intensive care unit.

According to the Public health Department, it said, pregnant women are more likely to have a severe infection with Covid-19 than other women and even pregnant women have a greater chance of getting infected with Covid-19. Whereas the report said 90% of the women infected with Covid-19 do not need to be hospitalised.

BMC also said that the Central Government issued instructions for vaccination of Covid-19  for pregnant women.
