"Vaccine won't be enough to downplay the ravages of pandemic", says WHO Chief.

WHO chief's verdict on Covid vaccine

While every individual is juggling his way out from this worldwide pandemic and trying to reconcile with the changes it brought in their hasty and busy lifestyles, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, tumbled the hopes and expectations of people regarding the arrival of vaccine to counter the virus. On Monday, he highlighted the inability of vaccines to completely eradicate the aftermath of the virus' spread.

The world has completely changed after the advent of deadly virus almost a year ago, with total cases rising to 54 million and ending 1.3 million lives. This has not only put a pause the lives of people but also created havoc in the world economy which is falling down on the curve day after day.

The Director General of WHO says, "A vaccine will just complement the other tools we use to treat patients, not replace them", asserting the efficiency of vaccines to back the medical aid against viruses. He further added, "Vaccine will not end the coronavirus pandemic alone." The curve accounting the daily cases is surpassing the previous day with a new record being established every following day. A total of 660,905 cases were reported worldwide on Saturday outliving the Friday's count of 645,410.

Tedros threw light on the strategy of distribution of vaccines after its successful trials and approval. He forwarded the ideology of prioritization by restricting the immunization of "health workers, older people and other vulnerable parts of population" to reduce the proliferating death rates. He warned citizens to undertake effective measures and follow the guidelines regulated by WHO to prevent them and the near ones from contracting the virus.

Vaccine will not bar the virus from spreading and communicating. It will play a role in lowering down the adversities. Self isolation, quarantine, social distancing, masked movements and contact tracing will be followed irrespectively to track down the growth rates and shelter a wide population from the harmful effects. The contribution of citizens is a vital key to counter the Corona infection.
