VENKAIAH NAIDU TESTED POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS


Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu tested positive for covid-19 during a routine test,
according to his office said in a tweet this evening.
He is a 71-year-old, who is in home quarantine, and is "asymptomatic and good with health",
He has been advised for home quarantine and Smt. Usha Naidu,wife of venkaiah naidu she has
been tested negative and is in self-isolation," the tweet from his office read.
Mr Naidu is also the Chairman of Rajya Sabha and has recently attended the monsoon session
of the parliament, which was a cut short after where more than 25 members were tested
positive for the virus.
Both the houses of parliament were suspended indefinitely on September 23, instead of
continuing till the designated date of October 1.
From the past 28 days, this is the first time where the number of coronavirus deaths over a 24-
hour period dropped below 1,000. Along with 776 fatalities, and a total of 96,318 people have
lost their lives to the till now with this disease.
According to the data released by the health ministry- The number of people affected by the
disease has crossed around 61-lakh mark, counting in the 70,589 new cases over the last 24
hour.
The report of a second survey was held between August 17 and 22nd September which has
shown that around 7.1 per cent of the country's adult population has been exposed to the virus.
This is a big jump from the 0.73 percent logged in the first survey, conducted in the same 700
villages and urban wards in May.
As the report comes the country will be ready for the next phase of the lifting of coronavirus-
related restrictions.
Over the next couple of days, the Centre is expected to announce guidelines for Unlock 5 and
the current phase is going to end on Wednesday.
