Virat Kohli Breaks World Record

Kohli became the fastest hitter in the game's history, recording 23,000 international runs on Thursday.

India's captain Virat Kohli added another feather to his cap by setting another batting record in international cricket. Kohli became the fastest hitter in the game's history, recording 23,000 international runs on Thursday.

The right-hander accomplished the feat during the opening session of India's Fourth Test against England at the Kennington Oval, London. He completed the milestone with a one drive from his main tormentor, James Anderson. It took the Indian captain just 490 innings to record the feat, while Sachin Tendulkar took 522 innings to hit the same.

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting, who took 544 innings to make 23,000 international runs. The former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis and Kumar Sangakkara in 551 innings and 568 innings respectively. Rahul Dravid is the third Indian cricketer in the list after Kohli and Tendulkar. Dravid is sixth with 576 innings. He's been on a meager streak by his own standards lately, failing to score 100 caps in 51 innings. The last time he scored was against Bangladesh a century ago in 2019 during the Pink Ball event in Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

In Test 4, England were in a strong position at lunch on Day 1 after leaving India at 54/3 Thursday. Strengthened by the involvement of Chris Woakes, the English paddlers once again tormented India's first-rate racket in the opening session of Test 4.
